GB/T 458, GB/T 22901
Working Principle:
Under controlled temperature and humidity conditions and at standard atmospheric pressure, the instrument measures the time required for 100 mL of air to pass through a specimen (diaphragm) with an area of 6.45 cm² under a pressure of 1.21 kPa.
Diaphragm Air Permeability Test Method:
Cut three samples from the membrane roll at intervals of 150 mm along the longitudinal direction. If the membrane width is ≥100 mm, the sample size shall be 100 mm × 100 mm; if the width is <100 mm, the sample size shall be 100 mm × membrane width. Place the samples into the test head of a suitable permeability tester for measurement. The average value of three test results shall be taken as the air permeability of the diaphragm.

Features:
The instrument adopts imported chips and sensors from the United States, ensuring accurate test results, good repeatability, and high precision. The calibration of pressure and flow sensors is traceable.
Compact design: The instrument uses microcomputer technology, enabling a fully automated testing process that is fast and accurate. A touchscreen LCD displays results and supports data recording, processing, and printing.
Superior performance: Compared with traditional permeability testers, this instrument has significant advantages:
(1) High accuracy: Conventional instruments have a flow error of ±5%, while this instrument controls the error within ±0.5%, exceeding standard requirements.
(2) Wide measurement range: Air flow rate ranges from 0.2 mL/min to 2500 mL/min, allowing accurate and easy measurement.
(3) For samples exceeding the test range, different pressure differentials can be set. Higher pressure differences can be applied to low-permeability samples, and lower pressure differences to high-permeability samples, ensuring accurate results.
(4) Convenient and efficient operation with high automation: Traditional permeability testers are slow and labor-intensive. In contrast, this instrument performs tests automatically and quickly, ensuring both efficiency and result accuracy while avoiding operational errors and poor reproducibility.

FAQ
1.What is a Diaphragm Air Permeability Tester?
A Diaphragm Air Permeability Tester is an instrument used to measure the air permeability of various materials. It functions by applying controlled air pressure to a test sample and quantifying the rate at which air passes through the material. This testing is crucial for assessing the breathability and porosity of textile fabrics, membranes, and other porous materials.
2.How does the Diaphragm Air Permeability Tester work?
The tester typically features a diaphragm that expands or contracts based on the air pressure applied. The flow of air through the sampled material is measured using precise sensors and gauges. The data collected helps in determining the permeability coefficient, which provides insights into the material's performance in real-world applications like clothing, outdoor gear, and filtration systems.
3.What materials can be tested with a Diaphragm Air Permeability Tester?
The tester can be used on a wide range of materials, including textiles, non-woven fabrics, membranes, and porous construction materials. It is particularly useful in industries such as apparel, automotive, and construction, where understanding air permeability is vital for product performance and durability.
4.Why is air permeability important?
Air permeability is a critical factor in many applications as it affects comfort, breathability, and moisture management in textiles, as well as insulation properties in construction materials. High air permeability can enhance ventilation, while low permeability can improve wind resistance and thermal insulation, making it essential to choose the right material based on specific needs.
5.What are the standards for air permeability testing?
Air permeability testing is typically conducted according to specific international standards such as ASTM D737, ISO 9237, and others. These standards outline the procedures and parameters for performing tests to ensure consistency, accuracy, and comparability of results across different testing scenarios and materials.
