Above the instrument is a head mould. The tester puts the mask on the face of the model, fastens the nose clip and fits the face and chin. The apparatus is then activated to simulate human breathing. After testing, a string of data appears on the instrument. The inspector compares the data with the standard data to find out if the breathing resistance of the mask is acceptable and then issues a test report.
