Under specified conditions, the carpet flammability tester exposes the sample in a horizontal position to the action of a small fire source, that is, a hexamethylenetetramine tablet (hereinafter referred to as a tablet), and measures the damage length and flame spread after the test time.
experiment method
1.1 Sample and conditioning
Sampling and sample selection
Cut the sample according to the regulations of QB/T 1078
Specimen Size and Quantity
Take at least eight samples from each sample, the size is 230mm×230mm, and the tolerance is ±3mm.
Sample sampling and sample selection
Cut the sample according to the regulations of QB/T 1078
liner
The use of upholstery is not specified, and this method may be used to evaluate the combined effect of carpet and upholstery if agreed upon by the parties concerned.
Sample conditioning
Clean the sample with a vacuum cleaner to remove loose fluff and other debris on the fluff head.
According to the specific situation, choose one of the following methods to adjust the humidity of the sample. The sample should be placed individually with the carpet facing up, or according to the method approved by the relevant parties:
Method a: According to the provisions of ISO139, the sample is placed in a standard atmosphere with a temperature of (20±2)°C and a relative humidity of (65±4)% for 24 hours, and then taken out and placed in a sealed container.
Method b: Put the sample in an oven at (105±2)°C for 2 hours, then move the sample into a desiccator until it reaches room temperature.
Note: The sample with method b is more stringent, and the sample with method a is more realistic. The choice of method should be determined according to the specific situation.
1.2 Test procedure
1. The test should be carried out in an atmosphere with a temperature of 10°C~30°C and a relative humidity of 20%~65%.
1. Put the test chamber into the ventilation fan and close the exhaust device.
3. Put on gloves and take out a piece of sample from the humidity-adjusted atmosphere or desiccator. For the pile sample, brush the pile upright in the reverse direction of the pile down.
4. Put the sample on the bottom plate of the test box with the use side up, put the metal plate on the sample, and align the four sides with the sample.
5. Take a tablet and place it flat in the center of the sample, lightly touch the surface of the tablet with a lighted match or the flame of an igniter, and ignite the tablet. If timing is required, start the stopwatch, and be careful not to touch the sample with the lighted match and the flame of the igniter.
The time between taking the sample out of the container or desiccator and igniting the tablet should be controlled within 2 minutes. If it exceeds 2 minutes, another sample should be taken according to 3~5 for a new test.
If the tablet ruptures when ignited, the test result is invalid.
6 The ignited flame or any spreading flame burns until it is extinguished, let the flame or flameless combustion spread to any edge of the metal plate hole, if one of the above two conditions is met, the test is terminated, stop the timing immediately, and open the ventilation The exhaust device of the cabinet is used to remove smoke and toxic gases.
Use a steel ruler to measure the maximum distance from the center of the sample to the edge of the damaged area, in millimeters (mm).
Take out the sample and remove the residue on the bottom plate of the test chamber. There should be enough time between each test to allow the test chamber to cool down to room temperature ± 5°C.
Repeat the method specified in 4~5 for the remaining seven samples.
A timer is used to measure, in seconds, the time from ignition of the tablet to flame or flameless combustion to the edge of the hole in the metal plate, if desired.
