1. Equipment utilization
From January to May, the number of enterprises operating in "key clusters" increased by 2.3% year-on-year, of which enterprises above designated size increased by 2.1% year-on-year; the number of employees decreased by 7.3% year-on-year, of which enterprises above designated size decreased by 8.5% year-on-year. From January to May, the equipment utilization rate of "key clusters" averaged around 90%, a year-on-year decrease of 1.5 percentage points, and the equipment utilization rate of enterprises above designated size averaged around 91%, a year-on-year decrease of 1.8 percentage points.
2. Yarn and cloth production capacity and output
From January to May, the spinning production capacity of "key clusters" increased by 5.7% year-on-year, and the weaving production capacity increased by 2.1% year-on-year. In terms of output, from January to May, the output of various yarns in "key clusters" increased by 3.8% year-on-year, of which the enterprises above designated size increased by 2.6% year-on-year; the output of cloth increased by 0.2% year-on-year, of which the enterprises above designated size decreased by 0.5% year-on-year.
Overall, the production of the cotton textile industry remained stable in May. However, with the advent of the off-season, the market demand growth momentum is not strong and the pressure is increasing. Consumer confidence still needs to be improved.
