It was late autumn, and the author saw in the clothing cold and heat comfort performance laboratory of the "Army Clothing Function Testing Center": a "robot" was wearing a new sample of military uniform in the low temperature and normal temperature environment simulated in the control room, sometimes standing still, sometimes Walking, various data on the thermal performance of clothing at different temperatures are accurately displayed on the computer screen. This kind of "dummy" that can be static and dynamic, knowing cold and hot, was successfully developed by the Military Equipment Research Institute of the General Logistics Department, and won the first prize of the army's scientific and technological progress - the "warming body dummy" test system.
However, the "dummy" has a height of 1.70 meters and a bust of 0.88 meters. The whole body is divided into 12 independently controlled anatomical sections such as head, chest, back, abdomen and limbs. There are two forms of static and dynamic, static and standing posture, dynamic and walking posture, just like a real person. The whole system adopts international advanced new technologies and materials such as temperature measurement and temperature control thermal effect, and has designed and installed dummy skin temperature sensing and other systems. Technology, the simulation of the real group test has various test functions such as constant temperature, variable temperature, constant heat, dynamic and static. Researchers can put the "dummy" in the experimental clothing in the simulation laboratory, adjust and change the room temperature through the computer, so that the dummy simulates the real person to achieve heat exchange with the cold environment outside, and finally can obtain a similar real person under the low temperature climate environment. Based on cold stress response data, physiological and hygienic evaluations similar to those obtained in real-life experiments were made.
In the past, before the advent of a kind of cold-proof clothing, military scientific research personnel had to carry large and small bags of clothing, travel by car, train, and plane, trek across mountains and rivers, go to plateaus, climb snowy mountains, and go to cold regions to contact troops to try them on. It takes two to three winters to complete the thermal performance test of clothing, which not only consumes manpower, material and financial resources, but also prolongs the pilot test period. Now it can be accurately measured in two hours, which greatly shortens the development period. The "Warming Manikin" is now the second-generation product, which is the first in China and comparable to similar products in the world. The Military Equipment Research Institute of the General Logistics Department has used "dummies" to conduct "try-on" tests on military uniform reform samples, civilian labor protection clothing, and cold-proof clothing for Antarctic expedition members, and obtained important test basis and evaluation results. Military equipment research provides an important means of experimental trial production.
