Main Use
The Mask Flame Retardant Tester is primarily used to test the burning performance of medical masks when they come into contact with a flame at a certain linear speed. It is a dedicated testing instrument for the flame retardancy of medical masks. It can be widely applied in fields such as polymer material production enterprises, textile printing and dyeing industries, inspection departments, scientific research units, and textile colleges. Additionally, it can be used to test the flame retardant of clothing fabrics, decorative fabrics, tent fabrics, protective clothing, rubber/plastic and their products, and other items that require flame retardant.
Instrument Features
- Mask Clamp: Typically adopts a metal human head mold, simulating human facial features in a 1:1 ratio, which can fully simulate the actual use state of the mask.
- Burner: Equipped with interfaces for combustible gases such as propane (liquefied gas), adjustable in height, and capable of automatic timing and positioning.
- Timing and Recording: Automatically record the burning time and flame retardant time, displaying them in digital form.
- Flame Temperature Measurement: Equipped with a flame temperature measurement probe and a flame temperature display for monitoring the flame temperature.

Operation Method:
- Connect the power supply and gas source, and turn on the power switch.
- Click the positioning button to start moving the head mold. Stop the movement when the head mold senses the flame position sensor.
- Adjust the distance between the burner and the lower end of the mask to 20mm and fix the burner position.
- Click the start button to reset the head mold.
- After resetting, press the gas button to connect the gas and then press the ignition button to ignite.
- After igniting the burner, adjust the gas flow knob on the panel to make the flame reach the specified height.
- Measure the temperature at the specified position on the burner using the temperature sensor and adjust the flame temperature to the specified range by adjusting the air intake.
- Observe and record the afterglow time and smoldering time.
Precautions
- The test should be conducted in a fume hood to ensure safety.
- The instrument and gas cylinder storage areas should be strictly prohibited from smoking and open flames. Timely extinguish any samples that are still smoldering after the test and equipped with fire extinguishing equipment.
- Carefully check the gas pipeline before turning on the machine to prevent gas leakage.
- Operators should wear protective clothing, gloves, and other protective equipment to avoid injury.
