AATCC Spray Water Repellent Performance Tester Experimental Method
AATCC22 standard applies to any textile fabric, whether or not it has been treated for water repellency. This standard can determine the water wetting resistance of fabrics, and is particularly suitable for textiles treated with water repellent properties, especially plain woven fabrics.
Due to the simplicity and portability of this instrument, the test procedure is relatively simple, making this standard particularly suitable for factory product control. Since this standard cannot measure the penetration of water droplets into fabrics, it is not recommended to use this standard to evaluate the rain penetration performance of waterproof fabrics.
The test results of this standard are related to the water repellent and wettability of the finishing of fibers, yarns and fabrics, and have little to do with the structure of the fabric.

Test Principle:
Under the prescribed conditions, water is sprayed on a taut specimen to form a wetting pattern on its surface, the size of which is related to the water repellency of the fabric. The results are based on a comparison with the standard pattern.

Experimental Methods:
(1) The 180X180mm test sample is tightly fixed on the ring with a diameter of 152mm, so that its surface is smooth and there should be no free wrinkle surface.
(2) Place this ring with the fabric on the stand of the test instrument so that the center of the nozzle is aligned with the center of the ring.
(3) Make the warp direction of the fabric flow down the direction of the water droplets on the cloth surface, add 27±1 °C, 250ml of water to the funnel of the funnel testing instrument, so that it can be sprayed in 25-30s, and avoid contact with the funnel when adding liquid. The movement of the funnel changes the position of the sprinkler head relative to the fabric.
(4) The spraying time must be controlled at 25-30s, otherwise the hole should be checked for expansion or blockage.
(5) Hold one side of the ring, tap with a hard object on the opposite side of the ring, and the test sample faces the object, then turn the ring 180 degrees, and repeat the above action once.
Rating Level:
(1) 100 points: the upper surface is not wet or wetted;
(2) 90 points: there is a small amount of water on the surface of the upper layer, irregularly wetted or wetted;
(3) 80 points: there is wetting on the surface of the upper layer;
(4) 70 points: all upper surfaces are partially wetted;
(5) 50 points: all upper surface * wetting;
(6) 0 points: All upper surfaces are partially wetted and the surface sinks.
